One Auchan, one Biedronka, one tie

For the first time we compared the same branded products across two shops, Biedronka and Auchan. Same brand, same weight, same variant. It came out interesting, because neither shop won across the board.

  • Kamis sarepska mustard 185 g: 3.69 zł at Biedronka, 3.48 zł at Auchan. Auchan cheaper by 21 groszy.
  • Krakus horseradish 180 g: 3.79 zł at Biedronka, 4.19 zł at Auchan. Biedronka cheaper by 40 groszy.
  • Mutti passata 700 g: 9.99 zł at Biedronka, 9.98 zł at Auchan. A tie to the grosz.

Three products, three different results. Cheaper here one time, there the next, no difference the third. It doesn't mean one shop is cheaper than the other. We have three pairs, not a whole basket, and that's exactly the point: it's individual shelves that come out cheaper, not entire shops. On one shelf one shop wins, on the next the other.

That's why chasing deals product by product does little. Nobody drives across town twice for 21 groszy on mustard. What counts is the total of the whole basket, and that's hard to work out in your head with two price lists at once.

That's what Snugmeal does: it takes your week of food and prices it in both shops at once, product by product, then shows you where the whole basket comes out cheaper. Not a single deal, but a total that matches at the till.

It launches this autumn. Leave your address in the form just below this post, and at launch you'll get a one-time 20% discount code for your first subscription.

Data: Biedronka prices checked live on 6 August 2026; Auchan prices from a 4 August reading, verified twice. Our own calculations.
